In March 2010 health care reform legislation known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Healthcare and Education Reconciliation Act were signed into law. One provision of the law required certain health benefit plans (not including stand alone dental insurance which is an "excepted benefit") to cover children up to the age of 26 whenever dependent children coverage was provided for policy years on or after September 23, 2010.
Delta Dental of New Jersey will not automatically change a group's coverage to extend benefits for children up to age 26. However, we will accommodate groups' requests for such changes in coverage at renewal. If you wish to make this change, you need to contact us in advance of renewal so that we provide you the appropriate contract amendment and rate. Please contact your
Account Executive if you would like to discuss these options. |
